On Saturday, December 1st, 2018, the Seminole Historical Society hosted the first ever Native American Gathering, a one day mini Pow-Wow event.  This one-day festival allowed the area's residents to touch and experience the heritage that used to be present on the West Coast of Florida prior to the arrival of European settlers.

The event featured Native American storytelling, dance, crafts, a drum circle and more presented by the Spirit People Inter-tribal Family organization based out of New Port Richey. There were several vendors showcasing and selling authentic Native American crafts and other items.

The Historical Society also offered a variety of other activities throughout the day that included a flint knapper demonstrating the stone-on-stone process of creating arrowheads and other materials. Local artists known for depicting Native American also displayed and offered their artwork for sale.
